Finding A 37 Inch LCD Television

It was only a few years ago when liquid crystal display television was so brand new that large screens were not possible. Recently, one company was able to produce a working 82 inch LCD screen, which is quite remarkable, but for most people though the 37 inch size will do just fine.

The liquid crystal display screen provides a sharp, clear picture especially when compared to the old cathode ray technology. It actually uses crystals that are liquid, and what happens here is that when a certain type of crystal is heated to a certain temperature that brings it to a particular state, it turns partly liquid, partly solid.

The crystals can become entirely liquid at higher temperature, but then they won’t make for a good television screen. The liquid crystal is sandwiched between sheets of polarized or otherwise light sensitive glass and works with a matrix of transistors to activate pixels. There needs to be three transistors for each pixel to create color. For a 37 inch LCD television screen, that makes for a lot of transistors.

Each transistor has to be able to read a signal telling it to turn on or off as needed. The television screen is made up of lines of color to create a still picture. The lines are generated from top to bottom and are renewed more quickly than the eye can see in order to make it seem like the images are moving. It is largely the need for working transistors that drive the cost of an LCD screen up. After all, one faulty transistor on a finished screen coming down the production line gets that screen tossed.

As well, it costs as much to manufacture a rejected screen as it does to make a perfect one however, all of the income is generated by that of the perfect ones. So when you take delivery on your perfect 37 inch LCD television, you are also paying for the rejected screens. Since larger screens have many, many more transistors, the odds of a faulty transistor showing up in a screen increases greatly as the screens increase in size.

That makes the larger screens much more expensive to manufacture. A 37 inch LCD television has to pay for a smaller percentage of faulty screens than, say, a 65 inch LCD television does, making the smaller screen a great bargain.

The 37 inch LCD television also fits into more normal-sized rooms. With the bright LCD image, the sharp digital image doesn’t require a large screen for good viewing. All in all, for good television watching, a 37 inch LCD television could be a good idea.
