Learning About DLP And LCD Television

Comparison shopping is a must these days, especially with so many products on the market for your buying pleasure. Today, we will take a good look at DLP and LCD television and try and equip you with a comprehensive strategy of how this technology works and how to decide between DLP and LCD television sets. You should be informed as you go in to the stores to shop, and learning a little bit about the televisions can make all the difference in the world in this effort. Being prepared makes all the difference in today’s world and can help you greatly when it comes to making the right decision.

DLP and LCD television sets are competing technologies, waging war for the almighty consumer’s dollars and both of them are likely winning. The application for which you will use your television set makes all the difference in the world and actually matters more than the actual television you buy. With knowing how you intend to use your TV, you can start to factor in the benefits of both television sets and come up with the right one for your purposes. Each has their own benefits, and the real crux of the matter comes with how you intend to use the DLP and LCD television in your home.

Getting Closer

DLP, which stands for Digital Light Processing, uses a small digital micromirror device to tilt other mirrors that are roughly the size of human hair in the right direction towards or away from a white lamp inside the television. This process then creates a light or dark pixel on the surface and, depending on how much light is reflected on the mirrors, reflects the right image on the screen by bending the light. This technology, as it turns out, can actually produce 1024 shades of gray, making it very unique in its possibility and creating even more complication in the battle between DLP and LCD television.

LCD television, on the other hand, uses an array of transistors to reflect the light energy into the proper picture and tone. The crystals in the television are filled with liquid and sandwiched between two sheets of glass. When these crystals are hit with an electrical charge, they begin to split and filter white light in the right directions. This produces colour through a process of subtracting other types of light out of the equation. Comparatively, the DLP and LCD television operate in almost opposite ways.
