The Better Choice: Plasma Vs LCD Television

There has been much controversy, especially over the past few years in particular, as to which is the better choice in regards to plasma Vs LCD television set. As with anything, when considering the matter of plasma Vs LCD television set, there are advantages and disadvantages to both, and all of these must be recognized and understood before making any final decisions, as what might be best for one person may not be for another.

Plasma Vs LCD Television

In the case of plasma Vs LCD television, let us first begin with the differences in regards to technology. Although plasma and LCD panels may look similar, basically the flat screen and thin profile is where the similarities end; plasma screens use a matrix of tiny gas plasma cells which are charged by precise electrical voltages in order to make a picture, while LCD screens are basically made up of liquid crystal that is pushed in between the space between the two glass plates.

In regards to the matter of plasma Vs LCD television, and the most basic advantages that plasma has over LCD; apart from the better contrast due to its ability to show deeper blacks, plasma screens also typically have better viewing angles than LCD, as you tend to be able to see some brightness and color shift when you are on too far of an angle with the LCD, while a plasma’s picture remains fairly solid the entire time.

As well, some LCD screens have a tendency to blur images, which is of course a downfall on their part, and this particularly happens during fast moving scenes in movies or in sports, for instance. Further, perhaps the biggest advantage that plasmas have over LCDs is that of the price, and particularly in regards to the larger screen end of the market.

In regards to the advantages that LCD has over plasma, one of the main advantages in this regards is that LCDs tend to have a higher resolution, and this means that there are more pixels on a screen. As well, LCD screens also tend to consume less power than plasma screens, and they are also generally lighter than that of similar sized plasmas, which makes them easier to move and to install.

Regardless of which you end up going with, at least learning about and acknowledging yourself on the advantages and disadvantages of both is incredibly important, as you will then be able to make the best decision for you and in order to result in getting both the best quality and worth for your money.
