Choose Watch And Jewelry Box Carefully

Those owing more than one fine watch or several pieces of expensive jewelry know that the right watch and jewelry box can be important for the safety and security of your valuable pieces. Proper storage to prevent damage is important, as dust and other air-borne particles can cause damage to the inner workings.

Wooden watch and jewelry boxes that are typically felt covered from the inside are the most favored for their appearance and the availability of various colors picked to match the décor of the in room in which they are kept. Darker wood is typically chosen for rooms like libraries or studies, which lighter woods, such as oak or maple, fit into the color scheme of most bedrooms.

Such boxes can also be found in aluminum in brushed metal finish for a more modern decorative scheme or darker colors such as pewter or gunmetal black. The choices can be as varied as the tastes of those using them. Typically, a watch and jewelry box are two separate items, often chosen in the same style and color for coordination in the room. While most have a latch with which to keep it closed, many are also equipped with a lock to protect the valuables they hold.

Quantity Determines Size Needed

With so many choices on the market, another consideration is to the number of watches and pieces of jewelry it will hold. A watch and jewelry box can be found to hold from one to 12 watches along with other jewelry items. Additionally, if you own several watches that may not be worn for long periods of time, you may consider a storage box that also works as a watch winder.

These work with automatic watches that contain no battery and count on wrist movement to keep them wound. This can keep the watch set at the right time, even if not worn for extended periods. Simply place it in storage in a watch and jewelry box equipped with the automatic winder and it will be ready to wear when needed. The most common is the single watch storage cylinder, which holds one watch while your other one is being worn and it keeps it wound for when it is needed.

Finding just the right watch and jewelry box can be a difficult decision, but for proper storage and protection of your valuable items, it can also be a worthwhile investment in time as well as money.
